Winning Edge Cavaliers Cavalier King Charles Spaniels A young King Charles II of England (1630 -1685) with his spaniels Email: winningedgecavaliers@gmail.com We’re located in the greater Phoenix, Arizona metropolitan area. Our initial breed were Shih Tzus as pets only while living in Florida and our first pet Dusty joined shortly before relocating to Arizona in the summer of 1996. It wasn’t until the spring of 2005 that we acquired our first Cavalier King Charles Spaniel as a pet named “Bentley” and he is a tri-color male. That next spring of 2006 while wandering the internet we found out that there was a Cavalier club located here in Phoenix and they were to have a meeting that next weekend. We decided it would be fun to join feeling that it would be a wonderful way to both learn about Cavaliers as well as meet new people that shared that same interest. The show bug hadn’t hit just yet...... That fall in 2006 we decided to take an extra day off to make an extended Labor Day weekend and fly to Vancouver, Washington to simply attend a dog show featuring Cavaliers. We had just survived another hot Phoenix summer and felt that a weekend of cooler weather would be a nice change. Adding another dog to our family as a pet let alone to show was the furthest thing from our mind when we attended that event. Two weeks later we acquired our next Cavalier, Winston later to become Ch Desert Sky Kopy This! a two year old tri-color male this time to show. Our first show entered was the Kachina KC event on Sunday 10/22/06 where Winston earned his first blue ribbon from the American Bred class. The rest is history as they say as we now participate in approximately 40+ shows a year throughout the southwest including regional Cavalier club specialties such as the Bay Area CKCSC, CKCSC of Central Arizona, the inaugural specialty for the CKCSC of Central Oklahoma, the inaugural specialty for the CKCSC of Greater San Diego, the inaugural specialty for the CKCSC of Southern Arizona and the CKCSC of Southern California. We are members of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club of Central Arizona, Inc. aCavalier King Charles Spaniel Club, USA, Inc. and the Kachina KC of Glendale, AZ. ***Andy earned his Grand Champion Designation at the Kachina KC portion of the Turquoise Cluster on Saturday April 9th, 2011 by Judge Joe Tacker and handled by professional handler Curtiss Smith. He is the fourth member of the “Fab Five” all Champion litter to earn the GCH designation.*** Thank you Curtiss!!!
